The Yard opened in November 2009 after a three year refurbishment of the Victorian warehouse where we can now be found.

The Yard is the latest in a long history of diverse shops that have used the warehouse in Dews Road. In the early 1900s the site was used by a funeral directors. Our shop window once proudly displayed the finest caskets, with the morgue and stables located in the warehouse.

Over the years it became a battery factory, a bakery, and a naughty knickers shop (please ask for details!).

Most recently the warehouse accommodated sound equipment and the shop-front was home to Nicholson’s, a furniture and home accessories shop, between 1994 and 2004.
